Nhaka AI is Zimbabwe's first ancestral intelligence platform. We exist to preserve the totems, mushana, oral histories, and family connections that make Zimbabweans who they are: before they are lost.
The Problem
Heritage is disappearing
Zimbabwe has one of the world's largest diaspora populations relative to its size: over 3 million people living outside the country. A second generation is now growing up in the UK, South Africa, Australia, and the USA who have never visited their musha, barely know their totem, and have lost the Shona or Ndebele that their parents spoke at home.
Inside Zimbabwe, rapid urbanisation means young people are increasingly disconnected from ancestral villages. Elders who hold oral histories: the real records of family lineage: are dying, and their knowledge is not being captured.
Platforms like Ancestry.com and MyHeritage are built for Western genealogical records: birth certificates, census data, and church registries. They do not understand totems, mushana, lobola records, or the oral tradition that is how Zimbabwe preserves its history.
Nhaka AI is built from the ground up for Zimbabwe's specific heritage: totems, clans, ancestral geography, and Shona/Ndebele cultural intelligence. This is the platform that Ancestry.com cannot build, because they do not understand the culture.

Edward Maminda Gandanzara is an award-winning Mechatronics Engineer and innovator with seven accolades in research and innovation. He is the Founder and CEO of Maminda Agrifintech, an AI-powered platform transforming agriculture and financial access for farmers, and the Founder and CEO of Awesome Intelligence, a technology company focused on building intelligent systems for real-world impact. Edward holds an Honours Degree in Mechatronics Engineering and actively works as an engineer within Awesome Intelligence, leading the development of cutting-edge AI solutions. He is also the Founder of the Awesome Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to community development and social impact.
